Research of a Curious Mind
Welcome to what can best be described as an online notebook of the research I’ve done over the years I’ve been writing. If you’ve ended up here either it’s through some Google search combinations or (more likely) because of a direct link, probably on my AO3 account, Cookies_and_Chaos.
To find out more about why I’ve done this, you can have a look at the ‘About‘ page. Essentially, it occurred to me that some of the research I had done might be helpful, inspire creativity, or just be interesting for others. Some of the topics I research are not always easy to find and put together. Since I enjoy doing it, I thought it didn’t do me any harm to share it. My notes do have asides in them, some added when I took them (I take notes similar to how I talk as I find it helps me remember it) and some that I added when I copy/pasted them over to here.
This website is a work-in-progress so there will be many changes as I add to it and get it set up.
The main content can be found in posts here:
There are notes about content warnings and other important points here where some questions may be answered.
Most of the research is about the following (and you can click the links to go to the main resource list page):
- LGBTQA+ history.
- Disability and mental health history and ableism/saneism.
- Boarding schools in Britain and the impact on boarders.
- Policing, forensics, police corruption and brutality, the legal system.
There are other topics though like Buffy the Vampire Slayer lore, myths and legends for my in “In Every Generation…” series, and race, racism and colonialism for my “In Trying Times” fiction. I’m sure I’ll end up adding to this list in time. Honestly, there’s so much to learn out there and I love learning it.
