Content Warnings
These are my own personal notes for writing, work, and research. As such they don’t all currently have the same content warnings that I provide in my other writing because they’ve been for personal use only in the past. While I work on getting the website up and running, some of the pages may not have specific content warnings straight away. I will work on getting them added.
For now, as an overall content warning:
There may be notes made on topics that could cause distress, especially considering the widespread and open attitudes and prejudices from some of the times I have researched and the nature of some of the topics of research.
Take care reading notes if you know that there are topics that are distressing or traumatising for you.
Additional Notes
Some of the primary texts that I have previously taken notes from have been written by people who, it later turned out, had or have bigoted opinions.
The author of ‘Surpassing the Love of Men’, for example, has been both transphobic towards both trans men and trans women, and bigoted towards butch lesbians. When I borrowed the book from my university library many years ago, I didn’t know who she was or what her views were, though some became apparent while reading the book. This has happened with other books as well.
The reason I bring this up is that there were also useful pieces of history regarding LGBTQA+ history and particularly the development of intimate relationships between women within that book. I could have added the notes without a source when I decided to share these but that seemed intentionally dishonest. So I’ve decided to be transparent about where the information came from.
I do not know the views and opinions of all the authors whose work I’ve made notes from as I haven’t researched all of the authors. Some of them, there is very little about them available online. If you prefer to know more yourself before looking up more of their work, it would be worth doing a deep Google dive. I will add information as I learn it but this will, as with the rest of the site, be a work in progress.
